The Land Development and Allocation Department’s main functions is to formulate, implement and monitor housing and urban development policies. This includes the preparation and implementation of activities related to housing development undertaken by the administration of any existing Government Housing Estates.
This Department assumes responsibility for the following areas within CH&PA:
1. Enforcement
2. Land Allocation
3. Conveyancing
4.Community Development in Housing Schemes.
The responsibilities of this Department can be
summarized as follows:
Land Allocation
Responsibilities for the processing of Applicants and the allocation of all lands owned by CH&PA in a transparent manner, to eligible persons.
Responsibility for ensuring satisfactory transfer of all land to allottees
Responsibility for the management of Government public rentals (until the phasing out is completed).
Conveyancing
Effecting all legal transactions in relationTo public sector housing property and regularized squatter settlements, issuing of transports and titles. Processing and issuing of Land Titles / Transport
Community Development in Housing Schemes
Sensitizing and enabling residents of formal settlements to form Community development groups for the promotion of self-help and community upgrading activities
Responsibility for initiating and completing housing development in designated areas through community participation. Offering advisory services related to the management of settlements.
